Marlborough provided the brickwork, blockwork, associated items and internal scaffold in a £1 million package for Balfour Beatty. York St. John Enterprises Ltd created a new Learning facility, a new Sport Science, Psychology and Health Studies facility plus an extension to form general teaching accommodation.
The development, by architects The Bond Bryan Partnership, is on the Lord Mayor's Campus of York St. John College. Communication and collaboration between Balfour Beatty and all trade contractors was crucial to ensure minimum disruption to the colleges ongoing events and schedules.

During Marlborough's time on site, the site team at St. John had an unusual visitor in the form of Archbishop of York, Dr. David Hope. The Archbishop attended to lay the foundation stone for the new learning facilities. this event, and the development in whole attracted much interest as the scheme took shape and, through sensitive design, now acts as a compliment to the history of the surrounding college buildings.
Marlborough's success and efforts were recognised on this project, which led to a partnering agreeement with Main Contractors Balfour Beatty.
"I am very pleased with the work Marlborough carried out at St. John College, York. Marlborough managed the masonry package professionally, with a positive, proactive approach to teamwork and collaboration. Marlborough carried out the works in a timely and cost-effective manner to produce a finished product of which all who worked on the project could be truly proud."
